Community of Practice: ASL to English Practice

The language and choice of vocabulary that we choose to use when interpreting from ASL into English has a large impact on the perception of the deaf individual by the English speaker.

    In this session we will:

    • Discuss the work of Stephanie Feyne and the implications of her findings on our consumers.
    • Practice interpreting high level ASL into equivalent levels of English.
    • Discuss framing and how we can implement it.
    • Identify weaknesses in our own work so that we can focus on improvement.
Facilitated by Teresa Ford, this will be a more open format than a regular workshop with full participation by all who attend.  Open to all levels of interpreters, students to advanced. Practice your skills in a safe, encouraging environment. Learn from your colleagues and have some fun doing it!

If you have any questions, please contact Teresa Ford, tfordinterpreting@gmail.com
