CDI/CHI Legal Team Interpreting

This workshop provides participants with role-play opportunities and hands-up practice on jury instruction, plea litany, simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, and how to work well with both Deaf and hearing team interpreters. Participants will leave the workshop with an increased level of understanding of team interpreting. They will also feel more comfortable working with CDI/CHIs thus increasing their confidence level and their accuracy of the team’s interpretation
Robin S. Shannon received his BA in ASL in 2007 and his MA in Interpretation in 2009 from Gallaudet University. He was born in California, raised in Iowa, and educated at Maryland School for the Deaf. He grew up interpreting for his friends and parents and finally began interpreting professionally in 2007. Robin received his CDI certification in 2009 and CLIP-R in 2010. He favors interpreting in legal, international sign, conference, and DeafBlind settings. Robin is listed as a Master Trainer on NCIEC’s Legal Team Interpreting site. His hobbies include traveling, swimming, and chasing adrenalin rushes. He takes care of two kittens and a beta fish with his girlfriend Amber. They share a residence in Vancouver, WA.
