Friday, May 15th, 3 – 6 PM
Saturday, May 16th, 9 - 4 PM

Rescheduled from Fall 2014

Target Audience: This workshop is designed for interpreters who have some experience using pro- tactile techniques and who work with DeafBlind people.

Description: This dynamic workshop will explore how to use sign language with pro-tactile techniques so that communication with DeafBlind people can be more clear and natural.  Applying these techniques can make interpretations more effective and reduce confusion for the DeafBlind person. Activities and discussion in this workshop will build from Friday to Saturday looking at participants’ experiences in conveying interpretation from a visual ASL focus to ways the interpretation can be enhanced by adding touch to one’s interpretation.

Outcomes: Participants will leave this workshop with a greater understanding of how touch not only enhances communication but also empowers DeafBlind people in the communication process.
