Following the fall conference, WSRID will host its Annual Membership Meeting (AMM). This meeting is an opportunity to share the past year’s activities and actions, report on the overall health of the organization, and provide space for member questions and input on future priorities. Please join us!

Election/Voting Overview:

  1. Voting Method: Electronic only
  2. Voting Period: November 1—December 1, 2025 (closes 11:59 PM)
  3. Eligibility to Vote: Must be a certified or associate WSRID member in good standing as of October 10, 2025. (WSRID Bylaws article 3, section 4)

SUBMIT NOMINATIONS

2025 Voting Requirements (WSRID Bylaws):

Voting on proposals, directors, or officers may be taken by mail or by electronic transmission only if the name of each candidate and the text of each proposal to be voted upon, including action to be taken on passage or failure of motion, are set forth in a record accompanying or contained in the notice of meeting, delivered not less than thirty (30) days, nor more than fifty (50) days, before the vote is taken. (WSRID Bylaws)

Every Motion Must Include:

  1. Motion – What action are you asking WSRID to take? (Be clear and detailed.)
  2. Rationale – Why is this important? How does it support WSRID’s mission and purpose?
  3. Impact – What changes if this passes? Will there be financial costs or income generated?
  4. Proposals and referendums may be submitted via email to: secretary@wsrid.org

Open Board Positions (2026-2027 Term):

Eight positions are open:

  • Vice President – 2 years
  • Treasurer – 2 years
  • Director (3 positions) – 2 years
  • Director (2 positions) – 1 year
  • Deaf/DeafBlind Community Representative – 2 years
  • Student Director – 1 year

Eligibility:

All nominees (except student director) must:

  • Be a voting member of WSRID for at least 2 years
  • Be a voting member of RID in good standing
  • Nominees for the position vice-president shall be certified members.

  • Nominees for positions of treasurer and director shall be certified or associate members.

Student Director requirements:

  • Member of WSRID for at least 60 days
  • Recommendation from an ITP instructor
  • In final year of interpreter training
  • Able to participate in board meetings using sign language

Board Position Responsibilities:

WSRID Vice President: [2-year term]

In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice-President shall perform all duties of the President and in so acting shall have all the powers of the President. The Vice-President shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed, from time to time, by the Executive Board and/or mandated by the membership.

WSRID Treasurer: [2-year term]

The Treasurer shall supervise the receipt and safekeeping of all funds of the corporation and deposits that may be designated by the Executive Board. Those funds shall be paid out only on checks of the corporation signed by the President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer and by such officers as may be designated by the Executive Board as authorized to sign them.

WSRID Board Directors: [2-year term]

  • Assume the legal and ethical responsibility for the actions and activities of the organization.
  • Set the goals for the organization and the Board.
  • Review and approve policies, operations, programs and committee work.
  • Approve the budget and monitor finances.
  • Maintain good community and public relations
  • Serve as liaisons to WSRID committee(s), maintaining contact with committee chair(s), reporting to board on committee issues, and forwarding committee meeting minutes to the Board Secretary.
  • Prepare for, attend and participate in Board meetings.
  • Share duties/roles of facilitating board meetings with other Board members.

WSRID Deaf/DB Community Representative: [2-year term]

  • Represents the needs of Deaf and DeafBlind consumers of ASL interpreting services.
  • Consults the board to ensure organization operations and policy decisions are inclusive of the values of Deaf and DeafBlind people.
  • At the discretion of the President, the Deaf or DeafBlind Member at Large may be selected to act as a liaison between the corporation and Deaf and DeafBlind organizations.

WSRID Student Director: [1-year term]

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Student Director shall serve as liaison to Interpreter Training Program Students, maintaining contact and sending out annual (spring) solicitation announcements and requests for instructor recommendations for the following year’s student director position.

Requirements for Student Director:

  • Must have been a member of WSRID for at least 60 days.
  • Must have a recommendation from an ITP instructor.
  • Must be in the final year of interpreter training
  • Must be able to participate in board meetings using sign language.

WSRID Officers, Board members, and committee Chairpersons shall be aware of this policy and uphold it at all times, in accordance with state and local law.
