Practicing Demand Control Schema in our Interpreting Community

The presenter will lead the group of interpreters through two  case studies using the Demand Control Schema.

  • Practice the basic parameters of Demand Control Schema (DC-S)
  • Practice how to present the salient aspects of a case
  • Learn how to choose and state the Main Demand.
  • Brainstorm a list of Control Options for the Main Demand.
  • Using DC-S terminology, professionally, confidentially and effectively discuss our work and tools for improvement.

Facilitator: Elizabeth Wagner graduated with her associates in interpreting in 2004 from Cuyahoga Community College and with her Bachelors in interpreting from Western Oregon University in 2009. She holds NIC certification, EIPA, and Arizona and Idaho state licenses. She has worked primarily in K-12 and VRS though also has experience in freelance work and post-secondary. Since graduating from WOU, Elizabeth has been leading Demand-Control Schema workshops for recent interpreting graduates as they embark on their first year of professional interpreting work. She recently was accepted into the Interpreting Institute for Reflection-in-action and Supervision as a Trainer for Supervision leaders.
