Deaf Talks is a series of presentations in ASL by Deaf people about something they know and love. It is an unique opportunity to expand our language base through exposure to high-caliber language models in topic areas that weren't covered in the classroom.

Engine, Transmission & Mechanical Stuff

Terry Dockter

Terry will explain the inner workings of cars and motorcycles - their parts, how they run, and how to maintain and restore them. He will also explain how to make minor repairs and service like changing the oil, spark plugs, or a tire.

A Day in the Life of an Aviation Manufacturing Engineer

Will Roach

Will works across multiple groups at Boeing to ensure that the build of the incoming airplane is healthy and stable. He will talk about airplane configurations that customers generally select; how he coordinates the build plan, including validating parts, plans and tools for custom designs; how he integrates the work of factory folks, designers, manufacturing engineers, airplane leaders and others to assess the build risks; and how he monitors build plans for an assigned airplane which can include tooling, testing, sequencing of factory jobs, and more.
